Microphones for Aerospace/Defence Applications

A Heritage of State-of-the-Art Microphones
GIT has been producing microphones for almost six decades. We designed our first condenser microphone way back in 1945. Ever since then, GIT has pioneered innovative solutions for microphones and preamplifiers and rarely has a year gone by without the introduction of a new GIT product in this area.

Dedicated microphones available for,
  -
Surface Measurements
  -
Engine Noise
  -
Beamforming
  -
General Sound Pressure
  -
Exterior Noise
  -
Wind-tunnel
  -
In-cabin

Surface Measurements

4948/4948A/4948B Pressure Measurement on the Skin of an Airplane/Turbulent Pressure Fluctuation measurement/Aeroacoustic Noise Measurement/Surface Measurements at Flyover Tests. Surface Microphone with built-in DeltaTron preamplifier. Despite its small size, it is a rugged and stable measurement microphone. The microphone housing and the metallic parts of the diaphragm-backplate arrangement, including the diaphragm, are all titanium, ensuring uniquely high resistance to corrosion.

Rocket Engine Noise Measurements or Very High Sound Pressure Level or Frequency Measurements

4941 This High-level Pressure-field -inch Microphone is specially designed for very high-level measurements in frequency range 4Hz to 20 kHz. The microphone can be exposed to maximum pressure of 201 dB peak.
4938/4938A-011 Pressure-field -inch Microphone is designed for high-level and high-frequency measurements. Using new materials and a new way of mounting the diaphragm, the microphone is geared to withstand rough handling and high temperatures of up to 300C (572F). Assembled in a clean room environment ensuring that it can be used in high-humidity environments and still produce reliable results.

Beamforming Measurements

4935 This array microphone is a 7mm (~ 1/4inch) prepolarized microphone with built in DeltaTron preamplifier and transducer identification. When used for simultaneous measurement of a large number of signals, the microphones can be clipped into a strong yet light grid network to form a complete array.
4951 This 20kHz array microphone is a short, prepolarized microphone suited for use in systems requiring a large number of microphones, for example, beamforming arrays.
4944A Prepolarized pressure-field -inch Microphone laser welded to a -inch DeltaTron preamplifier. Supports TEDS.
8103 Individually calibrated waterborne-sound transducer with a flat frequency response and is omnidirectional over a wide frequency range. Its construction is such that it is absolutely waterproof and has good corrosion resistance.

General Sound Pressure Level Measurements

4189/4189A-031 Prepolarized, free-field microphone for measurements in accordance with IEC 651 Type 1. Well suited to general sound measurements requiring frequency analysis.

Exterior Noise Measurements

4189 Prepolarized, free-field microphone for measurements in accordance with IEC 651 Type 1. Well suited to general sound measurements requiring frequency analysis.
4190 Falcon Range -inch precision condenser microphones microphone. Covers requirements for free-, random and pressure-field measurements. Corrosion-resistant with a wide temperature range. Robust design ensuring greater reliability and accuracy.

Pressurised Wind Tunnel Measurements on Scale Models (High Static Pressure)

4938W-001 Pressure-field -inch Microphone is designed for high-level and high-frequency measurements. Using new materials and a new way of mounting the diaphragm, the microphone is geared to withstand rough handling and high temperatures of up to 300C (572F). Assembled in a clean room environment ensuring that it can be used in high-humidity environments and still produce reliable results.

In-cabin Noise Measurements

4942/4943 Prepolarized diffuse-field -inch Microphone optimised for general random-incidence measurements and for standardised noise measurements in accordance with ANSI standards. Suitable for indoor situations, where the sound is reflected by walls, ceilings, and objects in the room, or measurements inside the cabin of an aircraft.
